A summary of the Alliance’s sustainable development debate for a responsible, plural and united world at the Barcelona meeting in March 2001. In this text, approaches for defining the concept of sustainable development are established.
In this way, the social, economic, ecological and political aspects of sustainable development are described. This document launches the debate on sustainable development, notably on the reassessment of the neoliberal growth model, on its environmental impact, as well as on the problem of North-South relations.
