Summary :

The Engine Shed was established in 1989 as an innovative training project for young people with learning disabilities, to help them improve their confidence, learn transferable skills in a real work environment and move into paid employment within mainstream workplaces. It has achieved these objectives through operating several training ‘workshops’ which provide a

working and learning environment for the trainees – centred on a vegetarian café, organic bakery, organic tofu production and conference/catering service. The Engine Shed has been extremely successful, consistently moving 80% of trainees into paid employment.
