SOLIDARITY ECONOMY SYSTEM OF INFORMATION – SIES: VISIBILITY AND STRENGTHENING OF SOLIDARITY ECONOMY IN BRAZIL*

Compendio :

The Solidarity Economy (ES) has been an important response of workers in relation to changes in the world of work in Brazil and abroad. There are thousands of collective and self managed organizations that carry out economic activities as production of goods, provision of services, credit and solidarity financing, trade, commerce and solidarity consumption.

In Brazil, since its creation in 2003, the National Secretariat of Solidarity Economy in the Ministry of Labor and Employment (SENAES/MTE) has developed a set of actions for the strengthening of that reality. Among them is the Solidarity Economy System of Information (SIES) which is a pioneering initiative in the world for identification and characterization of Solidarity Economy Enterprises (EES) and support organizations. This initiative begins as a claim of the Solidarity Economy movement.
