Karin Wedig

Karin is a development economist, specialises in the sub-fields of labour markets and vocational education and training. She holds a PhD (Development Studies) from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), an MPhil (Development Studies) from the University of Cambridge and a BSc (Anthropology and Economics) from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE).

Her research interests include labour markets and education in low- and middle-income countries, agricultural development, and institutional and political economy approaches to economic inequality and growth. She has worked as an adviser for GIZ and ILO in East, West, and North Africa, and in Southeast and South Asia. She was an independent author and consultant for AFD and UNESCO, and has taught African development at the LSE and SOAS. She currently consults the Indonesian Ministry of Economic Affairs and teaches at Magdeburg University in Germany.
